Every year Adobe has its annual MAX conference and this year, it has started with a bang with some updates for the Creative Cloud suite made immediately available to subscribers.
The apps affected are Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Character Animator and Rush.
In Premiere Pro, the new Auto Frame feature lets you deliver multiple formats from vertical to 4K to smaller or even custom sizes using Adobe’s Sensei AI technology. The system finds the point of interest of the shot and centres it. If AI doesn’t exactly do the job to your satisfaction, “non-artificial”intelligence can kick in to allow manual reframing.
There are also improvements to layers workflows, ProRes HDR speed, and time remapping up to a massive 20,000X, plus the ability to increase audio gain up to +15db. HDR10 metadata export controls have also been added.
Speed has always been an issue with After Effects and Adobe has finally countered with real time playback of cached content, faster shapes and faster content-aware fill for video. Additionally, there are enhancements to the expressions system, and better control over motion graphics. Other “engine” tweaks have been added to further improve speed.
Rush, Audition and Character Animator
Not a great deal to see here, primarily that the current social media darling, TikTok, has been added to the sharing engine of Rush, Audition has speed and workflow improvements and Character Animator has been supplied with scene cameras and animation tools.
